BECOMING THE ONE

Delay is not always caused by your “village” people or spiritual attacks. Sometimes, the main reason we haven’t gotten the answer to our prayers is that we forget an important principle of God. So, before you go to that next 'night vigil' or embark on marathon fasting, make sure you understand this precious tenet of God.

Genesis 2:5 lays the foundation of this principle -"no shrub or plant of the field was yet in the earth, and no herb of the field had yet sprouted, for the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to cultivate the ground,". In simpler terms, God didn't send rain because there was no one to work on the ground. Could it be that God hasn't sent rain in that area of your life because you haven't become the person that can cultivate the ground i.e. you haven't become THE ONE, that God can entrust with the riches of the earth? Jesus said, "we perish for lack of knowledge", or more easily put, we perish because we do not know and because we have not become the version of ourselves suitable for that increase.

The kingdom principle we need to understand to ascend to the next level of our lives is that God hates mismanagement. Thus, as His child, He won’t give you what you will mishandle. Thus, there is a version of you that is qualified to access the blessing you are earnestly praying for. The scripture shows that unless you become the humble Jesus that will succumb to John for baptism, you won’t receive the Holy Ghost (Matt 3:13-17). 

Likewise, it isn’t just about praying for that ‘godly’ marriage partner or the next promotion at your workplace, you need to develop yourself in all areas of life, always being submissive to God, gaining knowledge and changing mindsets to be the person that God will entrust His child (a suitable partner) or finances with. 

You need to study to show yourself approved (2 Tim 2:15). 

The principle above applies to all areas of life - relationships, careers, academics and especially our walk with God. Perhaps if we obey that instruction from the Holy Spirit, work on ourselves and engage in spiritual exercises, we won't feel so stagnant in our walk with God.

 

Personal experience: A few months ago, I was earnestly praying for a miracle to happen in a work I embarked on. However, I got no results. When I started working on the qualities that would qualify me for the miracle I desired (while still praying), I got excellent results!

 

This is not to say that God doesn’t perform miracles. The scriptures have sufficient proof and He still does wonders. What if HE is waiting for you to yield to the transformative process, HE has prepared uniquely for you before answering your prayers. In this, you become more like Him, while still abounding in all things.

Prayer: Lord, please reveal to me all I need to work on to become the one capable of receiving what I ask for.
