The Art of Worship

Many things happened to us this year that we didn’t plan for.

Also, unlike others, some of us didn’t get all we asked and prayed for to happen this year😩.
Frequently, when we thank God for how the year has been, at times these degrading thoughts pop up in our hearts along with our sonorous voices during thanksgiving. Rather than this heart posture, there are two✌️ key postures that Jesus desires of us to truly worship God.

Jesus spelt it out in John 4:24, “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”

What does 'in spirit' imply? 🤷

Remember, when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He gave us the Holy Spirit. Thus, it is apt to say that when Christ said ‘worship in spirit’, He wants us to thank Him for what He has given us and not worry about what He hasn’t given us. Thus, we aren’t pained because we haven’t gotten a Rolls Royce yet; rather, we thank Him for the vision He has given us that will certainly prosper beyond imagination.

Likewise,

In truth👌: This is where your knowledge about His word comes in. His word is the truth. In worshipping in truth, we are required to thank Him based on the promises in His word to us. His word is our truth, so when it’s like you haven’t gotten the help you need, you thank Him because His word says, “Fear not, for I will help you”. We thank Him for what His word says about us irrespective of what we face.

Remember God’s word is a light to our path; thus, having the ability to lead us through situations. Please don’t hesitate to search for His word concerning what you are facing.🙏

Thanking God with the spirit and truth combo will enable you to spot when you are deviating from true worship. In this light, when those unaccomplished thoughts seem to dance💃 in our minds during worship, we can boldly cast them down and remember what Christ has done for us, and what His word says that is true about of us irrespective what happened this year💪.

Ultimately, we worship God primarily, for He is Good (His Nature as seen in His word ) and not for His Goodies (His Acts)
