Purity: The Flip Side

We all have things we are expecting God to do for us this year. Certainly, most of us hope that this year we will see God in action in various aspects of our lives, saying, 'I am trusting God to do this and that for me🙏 this year '.
However, to see the hand of God (God's power) takes more than amazing plans. At times we hinder God from working, and sometimes God is at work, and we don't see it😳, all because we lack a key component

What is this key ingredient to seeing God move? While giving the popular sermon on the mount, Jesus said, 'Blessed are the pure in heart for they, shall see God' (Matthew 5:8). You are probably thinking "what does being pure in heart have to do with my goals?"

Basically, ensuring your heart is pure implies not exposing yourself to what can 'corrupt the heart', which is very important. But, on the flip side, it also means making sure that the motive of your actions and goals (that you are trusting God for) is not to glorify yourself but rather that God will be glorified in you.

Going back to Jesus's statement, it's only when God is at the center of your goals, motives, and actions that certainly you will see God in action. Herein is seeking God with the purity of heart 🤍.

The Bible says that we should seek the Lord with all our heart, our mind, and soul, for herein is the true pathway to find God and to see Him act when He acts
Balaam, the prophet, due to the state of his heart 🖤, couldn't see the act of God before him, only his donkey🐴 could see. We can only align ourselves appropriately to what God is doing if we can see accurately, but the state of our heart determines our degree of sight👀.

Personal experience: I was chosen as one of the winners in a competition and I was so elated. My position in the competition was to be revealed at the award ceremony. While praying to top others in the competition, I began to think of the way people will rate me as a 'smart guy'🤓. Eventually, a few days before the award ceremony, I was dropped as one of the winners and didn't get any prize. After a year, I applied again and prayed, this time with the right motive and I wasn't just among the top winners. I was among the top 3👑.

God was at the center of the thousand offerings that Solomon gave, and He met with God that night. What is the true reason behind your prayers and goals? God or you? On this note, if we have to revisit and revise our plans so that God will be at the center, let's not hesitate to do that. Truly, what we expect from God can only be realized with the right motive😊.

The heart of the matter is the state of your heart. Indeed, God will only drive a desire that glorifies Him.

Prayer: Lord, purge my heart from every wrong motive in seeking you.
